Zoom pastel workshop: ‘Wild hares’
April 8 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Join us for a live pastel workshop, to show how to capture the structure, body language and textures of animals, using wild hares as our subject matter. Hares are beautiful and extraordinary animals, and a joy to draw and paint, however, much of the skills learnt in this workshop will be useful for many other animals, including dogs, cats and other wildlife.
We will look at drawing animal heads from different angles as a way to understand their structure and form.
The images are provided by Frances Crickmore, who is an amazing wildlife photographer in Suffolk, do take a look at her work @francescrickmorephoto
A list of materials will be provided, although you absolutely do not need to have these exact colours. We will be using soft pastels, charcoal, Conte Crayons (if you have them) and pastel pencils. We will work on a brown pastel paper or surface, although you could do this piece on any neutral colour, such as grey.
You will also be provided with reference photographs, and a drawing if you need to trace the basic form.
There will be a recording available the day after the session if you register for the event.
How the session works
I will be demonstrating in my studio, and my ever-patient husband André will be hosting the zoom session. You can ask questions during the demonstration, using the ‘chat’, and I can answer questions at the end, face to face.
A recording of the session will be available after the workshop if you have registered for the event.
When you register for the workshop, your confirmation email will contain 2 links.
One link is to a PDF containing all the information you need, including reference photos and a materials list.
There will also be the zoom link to the class.
Please read ALL of the information.
I look forward to seeing you on Monday April 8th!
