Zoom pastel workshop: ‘Ebb and Flow’
May 6 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Join us for a live pastel workshop, to capture the beautiful patterns made by sea washing over rocks on the beach. With tips for using lines of flow and perspective to create a sense of space. After the great success of the ‘Crashing Waves’ workshop, it seemed a good idea to explore pastel techniques to paint the tide washing over the beach.
This demo will also include tips on how to convey depth in the water, colour choices, and how to create sparkle on the water, and hazy distance in the hills.
There will be a recording available the day after the session if you register for the event.
You will receive a detailed list of materials, photographs for reference, and a drawing to help you if you need it.
We will use soft pastels, and you do not need to have the exact colours that I will use, but a range of blues, purples, and blues will be useful, including a turquoise and a few earth colours. We will work on a grey mid-tone pastel paper or surface for the main piece, and a piece of practise paper for a composition sketch.
This is a workshop for all levels.
How the session works
I will be demonstrating in my studio, and my ever-patient husband André will be hosting the zoom session. You can ask questions during the demonstration, using the ‘chat’, and I can answer questions at the end, face to face.
A recording of the session will be available after the workshop if you have registered for the event.
When you register for the workshop, your confirmation email will contain 2 links.
One link is to a PDF containing all the information you need, including reference photos and a materials list.
There will also be the zoom link to the class.
**PLEASE LOOK IN YOUR SPAM FOLDER IF YOU DO RECEIVE YOUR CONFIRMATION EMAIL IMMEDIATELY**
Please read ALL of the information.
I look forward to seeing you on Monday 6th May!
