Zoom Pastel Workshop, ‘Capture the Energy’
March 3 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us for a live pastel workshop, to sketch dogs loosely in pastels, capturing their life and energy. How to create artwork that is more than just a copy of a photograph!
We will be using soft pastels, Conte Crayons (if you have them) and pastel pencils, and looking at alertness, emotion, and movement as well as texture, form and backgrounds.
This demo will also include tips on how to understand the structure of a dog’s head, how ‘less is more’, and the importance of mark-making.
If time allows, we will also look at palette choices and techniques for painting black dogs.
There will be a recording available the day after the session if you register for the event.
You will receive a detailed list of materials, photographs for reference, and a drawing to help you if you need it.
We will be using soft pastels, Conte Crayons (if you have them) and pastel pencils, You do not need to have the exact colours that Rebecca will use. We will work on a brown mid-tone pastel surface for the main piece, some practise paper for a tonal sketch, and a mid-tone grey surface for an additional piece if we have time.
How the session works
I will be demonstrating in my studio, and my ever-patient husband André will be hosting the zoom session. You can ask questions during the demonstration, using the ‘chat’, and I can answer questions at the end, face to face.
A recording of the session will be available after the workshop if you have registered for the event.
When you register for the workshop, you will receive 2 emails;
The first will be a confirmation email.
The second email will arrive a few minutes later. This will contain the links that you need for the zoom and also to access the PDF containing all the information you need, including reference photos and a materials list.
**PLEASE LOOK IN YOUR SPAM FOLDER if you do NOT receive your 2 EMAILS very soon after booking.
If you do NOT RECEIVE them, PLEASE GET IN TOUCH!**
Please read ALL of the information.
I look forward to seeing you on Monday 3rd March!
