‘Figures in the Landscape’ Pastel Course
£90.00
One-day pastel course
Sunday 9th November 2025
10am to 4pm
Stoke Canon Jubilee Hall, High Street, Stoke Canon, EX5 4AP
We all know how enjoyable it is to go for a walk with great views, and we can capture our love of the landscape in our work. Putting figures in landscapes and street scenes is a great way to give our paintings a sense of scale, and to help people connect with our work.
Rebecca will start the day with a demonstration of how she uses pastels to create depth in landscape work, and also show lots of techniques for sketching figures loosely, and setting them within the landscapes. We will also look at putting figures in street scenes.
Then you will spend the rest of the day working on one or two pieces of your own, with continued help and examples from Rebecca.
You can bring your own reference, or Rebecca will have a selection of reference available to use.
This will be a course to suit all drawing abilities apart from complete beginners. Everyone can progress at a pace they are happy with.
Materials
Materials are included in the course fee. We will be using Unison Pastels, Conte Sketching Crayons, Pastel pencils, and a variety of surfaces. You are welcome to bring your own materials if you prefer to use them. We will have plenty of room to spread out in the hall.
